Our terrace is no ordinary restaurant terrace. It's a retreat in the heart of Maxvorstadt – sheltered, covered against rain and sun, and far enough from traffic that in the evening you only hear the gentle clink of glasses and the laughter of other guests.
What makes our terrace Munich special: It's fully covered. This means you stay dry even during a summer rain shower – and your cigar doesn't suddenly become a short story. On cooler evenings, cushions and blankets are ready for you so you can get comfortable without having to move inside.

Munich's Schanigärten – and Why Our Terrace Is Different
The term comes from Vienna and refers to an outdoor seating area – the Austrian word for a beer garden or pavement café. Since 2021, Schanigärten have been permanently permitted in Munich: the city converted around 650 street-side parking spaces for the restaurant industry, available from April to October. These improvised outdoor seats directly on the street have since become part of Munich’s cityscape.
Schanigärten have made Munich’s streets more vibrant – and that’s a good thing. But if you’re planning an evening where the weather shouldn’t play a role, you’re in the right place: our terrace is in a sheltered courtyard, not at the roadside.

Smoking in Munich – Why STORIA Is Different
Munich has excellent cigar lounges – the Kempinski Cigar Lounge, Y Julieta, the Rum Club at the Mandarin Oriental. All great places for aficionados. But they share one common disadvantage: dining is either not allowed or severely restricted.
At STORIA it’s different. Here you first enjoy a complete Italian dinner – antipasti, pasta, pizza, secondo, dolce – and then smoke your cigarette or cigar on the covered terrace. No surcharge, no membership, no day pass. Simply reserve, dine, enjoy. STORIA is not a smoking venue. Our terrace is an outdoor restaurant area where smoking is permitted. Inside the restaurant, the statutory smoking ban naturally applies.
